Who we are looking for
Primary and middle school tutors
Primary and middle school tutoring is almost always in-person. Generally, we take on primary and middle school tutors who have passed Year 12 English and General Mathematics (formerly in Queensland Mathematics A) or a higher level of mathematics. We do, however, encourage any person who has passed Year 10 English and General Mathematics (or higher) to apply.
High school tutors
High school tutoring is generally in-person, however some students opt for online tutoring (e.g. by MS Teams or Zoom) to save time. Some of our high school tutors nominate their ‘field of expertise’, such that they only provide tutoring in a particular subject(s). Other high school tutors provide ‘across the board’ tutoring services.
Tertiary tutors
Our tertiary tutors are specialised in tutoring a particular focus area (e.g. medicine, law, economics, engineering, etc.). Because universities often offer inclusive tutoring services, tutoring is in less demand at a tertiary level than it is at a school level, so please bear this in mind if you wish to only apply as a tertiary tutor. We accept applications for tertiary tutors for any person who has completed their first year in a given university course.
Essential requirements
Completed Year 12 in the Australian Curriculum (or, where English is not being tutored, an international equivalent).
For High School tutoring, you must be confident in your chosen subjects/fields of expertise.
High levels of communication skills.
A current valid driver licence and reliable vehicle.
Preferable attributes
Enrolled in, or completed, a university degree (of Bachelor’s level or higher).
Previous tutoring experience is looked upon favourably.
Availability of over ten (10) hours per week.
Insofar as you will be tutoring mathematics, candidates who took advanced mathematics subjects at school and/or in university will be looked upon favourably.
Tutor’s duties
Unless conducting online tutoring, drive to the homes of your students and conduct tutoring services there (we do our best to minimise your travel distances and offer compensation for excessive travel).
Be diligent and provide services with utmost professionalism and respect for your students and their families.
Assist with homework, assignment work, and exam preparation.
